I am Simon Gerrard and I come from Thorne just outside of Doncaster, which is where I currently live. I am an extremely hard worker, devoted and passionate about achieving success. On top of that, I am ambitious, eager and work well as part of a team. Moreover, I have a great sense of humour, am easy to get a long with, meet deadlines and have a great attitude. I have varying qualifications, including 10 GCSE’s, such as an A in History. I have a further 3 A-Levels in History, Law and English Language and Literature. Finally, I achieved a 2.1, Second Upper Class degree from the University of Hull in BA Honours History, just recently.
My work experience has involved me working a seasonal job at Sainsbury’s, which were 10-hour nightshifts. I was part of the stock replenishing team where I had to ensure that stock was resupplied ready for the next shopping day. This had to be made presentable and meet the store manager’s high standards. Currently, I am volunteering in school, Green Top Primary School, which is local to Thorne and began this in early November 2015. This has been an extremely enjoyable experience and is something that I was doing during my time at Sainsbury’s. I feel that I have been provided help to the teacher and the children in the class.
My ambition is to embark upon a teacher-training course, around about September, in order to begin a Primary School teaching career. This is the reason for my voluntary work at Green Top, so that I can gain some valuable experience, ready for going into teaching.
